The Empowerment Expo was the result of a meeting with community representatives including Reginald Landers, Eric Cummings, Jerry Lourenco, Whitfield Jenkins and others. We were discussing the disconnect between the people looking for work and those seeking employees, but we thought it would be better to take it one step further and involve organizations who can help people build better lives as well.
The mission of the Empowerment Expo give job seekers all of the skills and tools necessary to obtain regular employment, through interacting with hiring companies, as well as support for a more sustainable personal life. Attendees will have an opportunity to speak with employers and learn what they look for in employees, their corporate culture, and why the job seeker should consider joining your team.
At GOCDC, will also realize that the best employees are those who have balance in their lives, therefore the Empowerment Expo will also include opportunities for attendees to work with nonprofit organizations that provide services such as literacy, interviewing skills, managing money, building strong families, community activism, and more.
We have had great response from the community and will have employers including the City of Ocala, Renasant Bank, E-One, Ancorp, Winco, as well as entrepreneurial partners Small Business Development Center and re-View Business Strategies. Finally we have partners such as the United Way, RAMAL Educational Services, Ace It Training, and UNITY Group Services to help job seekers be better prepared for employment and building strong families.
The event is free to attend. Please contact us with any questions and we look forward to your participation.
