Restoring the economic viability of West Ocala must include a larger percentage of home-ownership. GOCDC is currently working with Dr. Barbara Brooks, HUD, Ocala Housing Authority, Marion County, the City of Ocala, and other agencies to help more families purchase homes. We will be offering classes designed to make residents aware of the various programs available and to give them a better understanding of the home purchasing process. Affordable housing creates communities with a rich mix of culture, socioeconomic circumstance, age, and education. This diversity of people inturn produces a diversity of economic development opportunities through their support of neighborhood businesses, restaurants, schools, and other service providers. Class offered will include:
Credit Repair
Budgeting/Debt Management
Home-ownership Classes
Down Payment Assistance
Section 8 Guidance
Lease to Own Financing
100% Financing Options
Housing Grants
Purchasing After Bankruptcy
Owner Finance Options
Affordability
Renters' Rights
GOCDC is partnering with the City of Ocala, local builders, and lenders to begin constructing of affordable housing in the Fall of 2017. The goals is to build homes that allow families to purchase homes in the same price range as renting. We are also working with local investors to renovate and remodel existing homes and offering special financing for those willing to help rebuild previously challenged areas. Using these strategies and working together, we will be able to rebuild, restore, and re-energize West Ocala by "one house, one block, and one community".
